hi guys!

Hi! So, I have to choose a topic to write about as an introduction to the quad blogs. c:
I actually don't have much to write about at all, so. uvu
I guess I can say that I'm very excited to be talking to people around the world! Though I always talk to people over the Internet, this is the first time I've done it through blogging.

Quad Blogs!

We're starting to do our quad blogs soon! :D I'm really excited. Looking forward to seeing other peoples' blogs!

back in school!

So today is the day we got back in school. I was really excited to see some of my friends again, and it's good to see that they're safe. I did actually miss school; I never really had anything to do at home.

I'm not sure whether I'm looking forward to homework or not, but it's good to be out of the house again. I was literally living in my room!

Anyway, I know this was a very short blog post, but it's good to be back. c:

entry- innovative flood solutions in Thailand!

[Again, another very late blog post. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, and I'll make sure it doesn't happen again!]

Today, I read a news post about some creative ways people are fighting the current flooding problems in Thailand. I have to say that the most interesting one was the jet ski made mainly from a barrel, because it seems like it wouldn't work, but it does! I'm glad that despite the bad situation most of use are in, we're still able to find ways to bypass it.

If I was in the flood, I'm try to make some kind of raft [if I didn't have one nearby] out of something large [maybe the size of a medium dining table] that floats and some paddles [maybe they could be shovels?]. I'd also cover the sides with some light that keeps the water out. Maybe I could attach some plank to the side? I wouldn't really know, because I'm not the type of person to invent things, but if I was in a situation that includes flooding, I'd have to do something.

Innovation and resourcefulness comes from the amount of creativity you have and how quick-minded you are, because you have to think fast in situations like these. Being resourceful is a useful skill because you never know when you might need those skills!

.i am poem.

[I'm sorry this is extremely late! My computer's been having some internet problems, so I have to use my dad's laptop. c: I chose to write the 'I am' poem, because I thought it would fit well with how much I love painting and art. ]

I am artistic and curious
I wonder how art can freeze a beautiful picture
I hear the splashing water
I see the pink and yellow flowers
I want to paint it all
I am artistic and curious

I pretend that I can be as wispy and quiet as the trees
I feel each stroke of the brush
I touch the brush to the canvas
I worry that I'll make one mistake
I cry that it's not a perfect image
I am artistic and curious

I understand that I'll just try again
I say practice makes perfect
I dream I can someday make a perfect image
I try to accomplish that
I hope that someday I can paint that river
I am artistic and curious.

How the flood's been for us.

Recently, there's been heavy flooding in quite a few parts of Thailand. For my family, we have only been slightly affected by the floods. Many markets and stores around us have been closed, and it's been getting pretty hard to get water bottles. It's a good thing we have a filter in our house, though! We've tried our best to stock up on as much food as possible, just in case we get flooded in. However, it doesn't seem very possible right now. Our area is still as hot and humid as ever!

I haven't been able to help any flood victims. I would if I could, but traffic is terrible now that the roads are being blocked up! We had plans for the extended break; we were possibly going to go to the beach. Now, though, that can't happen because of both the floods AND traffic. However, because more and more people need to evacuate their homes, it's a huge problem. The floods are affecting everyone in Thailand: some people in safer areas are worried for family, stores are shutting down, or people are actually evacuated from their homes because of the flooding! I only know about 2 people that were flooded out.

There's also the recent earthquake in Turkey that may be a problem because Turkey is almost surrounded by bodies of water like the Black Sea. We all know that earthquakes cause floods! So, I also hope that Turkey recovers quickly from the quake.

Let's hope for the best; this flood is getting pretty bad! I hope that all of you are safe and okay. c:

Identity.

Identity :: You! (:

-- ~ --

I think that identity is one the most important things for us in middle school. I think this because many people think that acting different will change everything, or acting the way some people want you to will make things better. I disagree with this because your identity is who you are, and changing it usually isn't a comfortable thing to do. What if you're a very quiet person, and suddenly, you decide to be loud and talkative? It's a really hard transition.

People sometimes want other people to think better of them. It could be anything! So, they decide to change something about them: style, personality, or anything that the person feels isn't right. However, if it doesn't work out correctly, it can lead to a big letdown. You should only change yourself if you feel that it's right, and you absolutely should NOT force it.

I used to think that acting the way someone would want me to would make me a better person, but it didn't. I believe that every person having their own identity makes people unique, and it's more fun getting to know a person! So, like I've said, your identity is who you are, and don't just change it hastily.

Metacognition

In class, we used clay with a partner to identify metacognition.

1. What did you notice?

I noticed that it was hardest for my partner to explain exactly what he was doing with the clay.

2.What was hard?

The hardest part for me was trying to explain how I used  the clay to make the model of the vehicle, especially when I had to be specific.

3. What did you learn from each other?

We learned that it can be difficult to show directions to others without already knowing what they are. For example, I had never made a clay vehicle before, and though I had some clue of how to make it, it was still challenging for me to explain the process of making it.

4. How might metacognition help you as a student?

It can help me because it might help when I need to do a hypothesis or some other form of guessing.

Music Video- Who am I?

Here's my music video for Language Arts. The hardest thing about this project was getting the right music, but I did like finding pictures. The categories I chose included divorce, hobbies, and media.
