Recently, our grade went to do different community service field trips. I went to the blind school. First, when we got there, we were given a short introduction. Then, the blind students-and yes, they WERE blind- played an amazing Thai instrumental for us! I found that amazing because I would never be able to play those instruments, especially without eyesight. Then, we played a game where we had to memorize at least 5 names of some of the blind students. It was difficult for me because I speak minimum Thai! However, it was very fun to try learning everyone's name.
Soon after that, we played another game where we had to find partners. That was also a little difficult for me because we had to speak Thai to understand what was going on, but it was still very entertaining!
Then, we went to another building to play a game- it was kind of like handball, but there were 3 people on every team. You had to keep the ball from getting into your goal.
Here was the catch- everyone was blindfolded! So it was very difficult for people that weren't used to not being able to see.
The last thing we did was that we went downstairs to tour around a bit. There were also some smaller children there, and it was fun to play with them. We had lots of fun there, and it was really educating to learn about how these people lived!

Boston Tea Party- Terrorists or patriots?
The other day in Social Studies, we did a Socratic Seminar on the people that did the Boston Tea Party. Near the end, we had to decide whether the people involved in dumping the tea were terrorists or patriots.
I personally think that they are a bit of both. For example, if you look at it in the sense that the colonists were protesting for their freedom, they look like patriots. This is because it clearly shows that they were fighting for their rights. However, if you look at them in a way that shows how much they could've hurt the British economy, then they are seen as terrorists because they attacked without warning. So, it actually all depends on your personal views to decipher whether they are terrorists, patriots, both, or neither.
A current event I can connect this to is the SOPA/PIPA/ACTA bill. I can connect these events because the bills have two sides to relate to. The 'patriot' side would be saying that censoring the internet is good because it helps protect copyright claims, but the 'terrorist' side would argue. They would say that this violates rights of freedom of speech.

hi guys!
Hi! So, I have to choose a topic to write about as an introduction to the quad blogs. c:
I actually don't have much to write about at all, so. uvu
I guess I can say that I'm very excited to be talking to people around the world! Though I always talk to people over the Internet, this is the first time I've done it through blogging.

back in school!
So today is the day we got back in school. I was really excited to see some of my friends again, and it's good to see that they're safe. I did actually miss school; I never really had anything to do at home.
I'm not sure whether I'm looking forward to homework or not, but it's good to be out of the house again. I was literally living in my room!
Anyway, I know this was a very short blog post, but it's good to be back. c:

entry- innovative flood solutions in Thailand!
[Again, another very late blog post. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, and I'll make sure it doesn't happen again!]
Today, I read a news post about some creative ways people are fighting the current flooding problems in Thailand. I have to say that the most interesting one was the jet ski made mainly from a barrel, because it seems like it wouldn't work, but it does! I'm glad that despite the bad situation most of use are in, we're still able to find ways to bypass it.
If I was in the flood, I'm try to make some kind of raft [if I didn't have one nearby] out of something large [maybe the size of a medium dining table] that floats and some paddles [maybe they could be shovels?]. I'd also cover the sides with some light that keeps the water out. Maybe I could attach some plank to the side? I wouldn't really know, because I'm not the type of person to invent things, but if I was in a situation that includes flooding, I'd have to do something.
Innovation and resourcefulness comes from the amount of creativity you have and how quick-minded you are, because you have to think fast in situations like these. Being resourceful is a useful skill because you never know when you might need those skills!

.i am poem.
[I'm sorry this is extremely late! My computer's been having some internet problems, so I have to use my dad's laptop. c: I chose to write the 'I am' poem, because I thought it would fit well with how much I love painting and art. ]
I am artistic and curious
I wonder how art can freeze a beautiful picture
I hear the splashing water
I see the pink and yellow flowers
I want to paint it all
I am artistic and curious
I pretend that I can be as wispy and quiet as the trees
I feel each stroke of the brush
I touch the brush to the canvas
I worry that I'll make one mistake
I cry that it's not a perfect image
I am artistic and curious
I understand that I'll just try again
I say practice makes perfect
I dream I can someday make a perfect image
I try to accomplish that
I hope that someday I can paint that river
I am artistic and curious.
