Metacognition

In class, we used clay with a partner to identify metacognition.

1. What did you notice?

I noticed that it was hardest for my partner to explain exactly what he was doing with the clay.

2.What was hard?

The hardest part for me was trying to explain how I used  the clay to make the model of the vehicle, especially when I had to be specific.

3. What did you learn from each other?

We learned that it can be difficult to show directions to others without already knowing what they are. For example, I had never made a clay vehicle before, and though I had some clue of how to make it, it was still challenging for me to explain the process of making it.

4. How might metacognition help you as a student?

It can help me because it might help when I need to do a hypothesis or some other form of guessing.

  1. Hannah, Thanks for addressing each of the prompts. Were you surprised by the challenge the 'Think Aloud' presented? Also, might you consider adding more explanations to future blog posts so readers can better understand your thinking?
